Emerald Capital Management, a Registered Investment Advisor established in 1992, specializes in the construction of separately managed equity portfolios.

We believe that pro-active portfolio management can deliver performance in excess of market return while maintaining a risk averse posture. A goal that we have proudly attained. We maintain a long-term bullish outlook and therefore do not react to short-term market gyrations, nor do we try to outguess the market with active market-timing tactics.

Our investment discipline involves a two step process. We initially use sophisticated quantitative analysis techniques to identify candidates for purchase in our various portfolios. We then employ a hybrid of Modern Portfolio Theory to create the optimal combination of stocks in the various portfolios. Our goal is to remain fully invested at all times. However, careful consideration of the current market trends is part of the philosophy, which may occasionally result in a modest cash position.

Steve Thorson, the Founder and Chief Investment Officer of Emerald Capital Management, developed the unique methods used in our process which is a culmination of his more than twenty-seven years of experience in the markets. As President of Emerald Capital he has been actively managing client portfolios for over 15 years.

Steve's passion for Wall Street began in 1979 during his studies at Washington State University. After a short career as a retail broker for a major wirehouse he determined that his true calling was to pursue portfolio management and Emerald Capital was born.

Steve spent many of the early years analyzing the stock market and the multitude of methods for managing money in the market. The goal was to determine the most consistently successfully approach utilizing a philosophy that is objective, disciplined, value added, logical and risk averse.

The many years of research and testing resulted in the development of a sophisticated quantitative analysis technique that identifies the dynamic style rotation of the market and selects stocks for purchase that are in front of the coming cycles. Once these candidates have been identified strict due diligence is conducted on the companies followed by a masterful use of a hybrid of Modern Portfolio Theory to create an optimal combination of stocks in the portfolios.
